Winter Trail Running

The Trail Runner winter ascent experience.

Victoria’s highest Alpine peaks have just been opened up for guided ‘fast-packing’ ascents… in the snow!

Accomplished International Extreme Sky runner and qualified Snow and Ice Guide Matt Cooper, having made numerous winter ascents ‘fast and light’ style on many of Australia’s, N.Z and Europeans mountains is offering limited number guided ascents of Mt Bogong.

The first of its kind in the Australian Alps, these single day trips are aimed at those trail runners/mountain runners or adventure enthusiasts who want to experience a true alpine style ascent of our biggest white mountains in Australia.

The day includes all technical specific gear required for the ascents including crampons (lightweight style), ice axe, harness and rope. Tuition on snow/ice techniques for ‘fast and light’ movement in the mountains, correct fall arrest and use of ice specific tools (crampons and ice axe), guided ascent of the summit , information on preparation and planning for your own future winter ascents (including gear choice/weather and snowpack)

This trip is for well-conditioned mountain runners/hikers. This IS NOT a long day bush walk in the snow. The winter Alpine environment has serious consequences if not ascended with the right preparation and experience.

Upon signing up, a description of your current mountain fitness and experience will be required.
